Virtualtravelguides is a dynamic content supplier for international e-commerce companies. We specialise in mass content for worldwide destinations, focusing on online media. Our company is entirely virtual, and everyone works from home. Since starting out in 2003, we have grown to include more than 40 Asia-based freelance writers, turning out about 5,000 pages of travel information each month. Although our work does not include travelling unfortunately, we get to travel virtually and earn good money writing about it.

VACANCIES: WEB WRITERS

Pay rate: approximately 300 baht per hour
We're expanding our writing team and need at least 10 new part-time freelancers to produce simple web copy. Applications are welcomed from Native English speakers (or those educated in English language) with good writing skills and some travel knowledge.

Ideally we are looking for people with many of the following, but will consider applicants of varying skills level and experience;

  1. Some commercial writing experience, impeccable grammar
  2. Well travelled, preferably Europe and/or North America
  3. Professional attitude, and committed work ethic
  4. Ability to work strictly to a brief and meet deadlines
  5. Consistently available in Thailand for six months minimum
  6. Fairly young and flexible, with an understanding of web publishing style.

You'll be writing mass content, using existing material and producing 300 word pages on a rapid turnover. Little experience is needed, but motivation and a professional work ethic is essential.

We pay per article, typically earning you 300 baht per hour, once you are 'up to speed'. This is paid reliably at month end. There is unlimited work available on a continuous basis, but we do insist on 15 hours minimum contributed every week. Bonuses are given for 'busy writers'.

This is a flexible, work-from-home arrangement that will generate excellent writing experience, with reliable freelance income. There is also scope for promotion to our senior team, which writes more detailed, professional travel guides.

Payment is made reliably on the 5th of every month for the previous month's work. Our busiest writers make approximately 35,000 baht per month for roughly 25-30 hours per week of intensive writing/researching.

VACANCIES: WEB EDITORS

Pay rate: approximately 400 baht per hour
Virtualtravelguides needs experienced sub-editors to lead teams of writers on a part-time or full time basis. This requires a diligent and experienced editor with impeccable proof reading ability and good organisational/communication skills. You will also be expected to write guides, compile briefs, liaise occasionally with clients and manage workflow from writers.

Ideally we are looking for similar attributes required of our writing team;

  1. Commercial writing experience, impeccable grammar
  2. Well travelled, preferably Europe and/or North America
  3. Professional and efficient work ethic
  4. Management skills that include supervising freelancers
  5. Consistently available in Thailand for six months minimum
  6. Contributing 10-15 hours a week minimum
  7. Fairly young and flexible, with an understanding of web publishing style.

You'll be working from home, with flexible hours and relaxed deadlines, but patience is needed as some of the work is a bit tedious. Pay is calculated per item, with fixed rates for 'admin hours', paid reliably on the 5th of the month. The standard of editing required is for web publishing, therefore not as strict as printed media. Some SEO knowledge and 'keyword writing/editing' will be helpful.
